When life gives you broken lawn mowers...
It all started with a broken lawnmower. A few years ago, while I was mowing my lawn, the wheel popped off after running over a plastic ball dog toy. I picked up the wheel and decided to roll it to my dog for him to fetch. I was surprised to find that I could aim the wheel wherever I wanted it to go with some precision.
The next day, I was expecting friends over for a cookout and wanted to have something fun to do outside. I saw my mother-in-law rolling the wheel to my dog in the backyard, and that's when a light bulb went off in my head. I ran to my garage, cut three slots out of a piece of plywood, and set it up in my backyard. Before long, my friends and I were hooked on trying to roll the little wheel through the small slot in the board - and that's how SLOTS was born.
I showed the game to my father and brother, and they agreed that it had great potential as a new outdoor game. So we decided to develop it further. I began to create wooden prototypes in my garage by hand, painting and putting stickers on each one. I bought extra lawnmower wheels from the hardware store, busted out the rims with a hammer, and even found a sewing company to make a carrying case.
Word of the game quickly spread, and soon enough, I couldn't keep up with the demand. My father and brother saw this as an opportunity to take SLOTS to the next level. We researched and analyzed the next best steps and decided to get help from a product development company to design the tools for a plastic injection-molded game that met our quality standards. Many months later, and after countless emails, struggles, negotiations, and costs, we now have the ability to mass-produce SLOTS.
We believe that the joy of playing games and spending time with loved ones is something that should be cherished and celebrated. It's the reason why we're so excited to share SLOTS with the world. From a small idea born out of a lawnmowing accident, we've created a game that we believe can bring families and friends closer together. Whether you're at a backyard cookout, a beach with friends, or just hanging out in your own backyard, we hope that SLOTS will help you create memories that last a lifetime. At the end of the day, that's what it's all about - sharing moments with the people who matter most to you.
